Later a year, in 1957 Dr. Neumann show up in Los Angeles, at the University of California (ULCA), with a major in the field of Psychology and Public health; she completed her BSc. in nursing and in mental health in the year 1966 from ULCA. Consequent the completion of her M.S. in 1966 she was appointed as chair/faculty member of the ULCA Mental health consultation program. To incorporate nurses, into training program, she developed a model to provide education to community for gaining an understanding of mental health, tested in public health settings. Thus, she designed in 1972 the model emphasised adopting a people- oriented approach to the patient problems. The Neumann Systems model (1982) she conceptualized nurses who had a role to keep the individual’s energy system balanced to maintain their sound health condition. In 1985, she then acquired doctorate in Clinical psychology from Pacific Western University, and was awarded with an Honorary Doctorate of Letters in 1992. Three years later (1995) the Neumann Systems model 3 ed. was published. Thus, besides a faculty chair, she became one of the first nurse, with a license of marriage & family counsellor, in the state of California, thus she became a pioneer in the field of nursing involvement in community mental health (Memmott et al., 2017).
