For a few, becoming a professional in nursing could possibly signify dressing stylishly at the workplace, or maybe doing a good job (Blevins & Millen, 2016). For others being professional signifies having innovative degree or even other certification, thus, precisely what is the definition of professionalism. Professionalism describes the conduct, aims, or attributes which characterize or even mark a profession (Blair & Jansen, 2015). This description signifies that professionalism does encompass several different attributes and together, these kinds of attributes could identify and define a professional (these will be discussed further in this paper). All of us chase after success. For many of us, success means attaining more in life.

 Professionalism in nursing is important to attain a healthy work environment and it is enabled in the context of practice (Clark, 2017).  This particular definition of success pertains to what is regarded as professional success. Many individuals who are successful know the pinnacle of their professional success (Blevins & Millen, 2016). They probably worked hard in attaining what they have today and are also probably very proud of it.  In professionalism, as a profession our function actually signifies that you offer quality results each time, constantly being responsible of your actions (Gardner Jr et al. 2016). You then become a problem solver without anticipating that another person comes up with a response to your concerns (Clark, 2017). One can find out they do not accept anything less from people close to you. Personal goals and delivery will probably be about discovering ways to perform everything in the best way.
An inevitable fact remains that individuals especially working in nursing do prefer to work with people they like, so how to deal with interactions is an essential facet of your professionalism (Clark, 2017). Thoughtfulness and a smile are exceedingly powerful tools and make individuals wish to work with you. Small gestures also matters in our busy lives (Gardner Jr et al. 2016). Keeping in mind personal details about those you work with, being attuned to calls and emails instantly, even though it is only to say I will get back to you soon is very important to your professionalism success (Ghadirian, Salsali & Cheraghi, 2014). Not to forget acknowledging and thanking an individual for work well done and offering your support to colleagues.

The characteristics of nursing professionalism

Time management 
An employee working in nursing is regarded as a thorough professional in case they understand how to manage their time well.  A nurse need to punctual and a good time manager when it comes to going to work each day, calling up and updating supervisor, these are qualities of excellent to this professional.

It is asserted that your very first impression is the final one. Restrictive with this rule a nursing employee should dress up in clean and well ironed outfits (Slatyer, Coventry, Twigg & Davis, 2016). Soft skills 
This is pertaining to being considerate to the subordinates as well as seniors, using the right words and vocabulary to convey, respecting the views and opinions of others; these are generally the qualities that a worker must ideally display as a professional.
Positive attitude 
It is obligatory for all professionals especially in the nursing to sustain a positive attitude whilst working. The more positive a worker or perhaps a manager is, the much more likely it is that the end result will be positive .a professional worker is the one who does not crack up under pressure as well as retains a calm exterior , even with the most awful situations (Tanaka et al. 2017).
Organizational skills 
An employee’s division of work should be neat and clean. An employee files and paperwork should be in place all the time (Tanaka et al. 2017). This entails capability to talk and listen. As a nurse it is important to inculcate open and constructive communication, a professional could possibly get numerous things done.

Strengths and weaknesses based on the characteristics of professionalism described

In terms of strength I always find myself creating positivity around the work place, making my colleagues to think and work in a very positive manner. Am able to think logically and solve problems that require attention to the detail. Additionally, I have strength in time management. This is due to the fact that I like to be aware of things happening around me. Moreover, I am good at multi-tasking with that I always tend to find myself on time.

Based on the characteristics highlighted my weakness could be communication because I sometimes get nervous when speaking in front of a large crowd or a meeting. Another weakness could be of not being so soft spoken because at times I tend to get angry very quickly and find myself raising my voice to my colleagues

Strategies to adopt and become successful in the nursing program

Management of my time

Working in nursing professional it is important to balance work, family obligations and a personal life takes some serious planning. Break each day into blocks of time and then decide on the most important thing for each block (Texas occupations code and statutes regulating the practice of nursing, 2013). For example, you need time to sleep for eight hours every day. Proper sleep is the foundation for a healthy, stress-free nursing program experience so I cannot skip it. Planning ahead and staying on top of my assignment will save me a lot of time.

Ask for help

This tough for most people, asking for help seems like a sign of weakness or failure, but it is not. Seek someone who has been there before you to offer advice (Tanaka et al. 2017). They will help me get through the difficult spots.

Conclusion:

Based on this paper, it has examined about professionalism particularly in the nursing practice. It has looked at the various characteristics such as time management, organizational skills, good communication, positive attitudes, and smart office attire, which are some of the features related to professionalism. Moreover, within the paper it has looked at the strengths and weaknesses based on these characteristic, along with strategies to adopt to become successful in nursing program.
