NUR2300 Evidence Based Nursing Practice
Question:
Answer:
Evidence based practice project on Nursing Informatics and Technology
Nursing is increasingly adopting the use of technology which is increasingly improving patient care. For instance, more adults in the world today use digital health applications and devices to track their health data. Although use of health devices has increased, nearly 10 percent of the population share their health data with a clinician or a nurse (Yen, Phillips, Kennedy & Collins, 2017). This is because the patients do not have a simple platform and enough reason for sharing their digital health data with a healthcare professional. Similarly, healthcare professionals do not have a systematic way of accessing patient digital health data. Hence there is need to improve the way patient digital data will be efficiently relayed to healthcare professionals.
Self-care nursing theory introduced by Dorothea Orem will be efficient in addressing the issue as this theory is based on the idea that people should have knowledge regarding their health problems so as to provide satisfactory care (Kaakinen, Coehlo, Steele & Robinson, 2018). Nurses should be vibrant in supporting patients to be able to be self-sufficient and responsible for their own care.
The interpersonal relations theory developed by Hildegard Peplau will also be efficient in solving the problem as it focuses on importance of nurse-patience relationship. In this case nurses are able to provide better care to their patients if they build a strong relationship based on mutual respect.
