NSG426 Integrity In Practice: Ethic And Legal Considerations
Question:
This is a paper about the following questions you should answer the questions as if you were me. But choose your own answers to the personal questions.
In this initial entry into your Nurse E-Portfolio for this course, you continue to have opportunities for reflective practice. In this entry you will focus on legal issues and structure, the Nurse Practice Act for the state of Florida and your own ethics and ethical values. Using the e-portfolio format, answer the following questions. Make sure you spend some time thinking about the answers to these questions before writing.
- What legal issues and structures must you personally and professionally be aware of to be a safe and competent nurse?
- What are the most important aspects of the Nurse Practice Act that you want to continually keep in mind when practicing as a professional nurse?
- As you prepare for the remainder of this course, it is helpful to start thinking about your own ethics and ethical values. List two that you “live by” and provide a description of how they are used in your daily life.

Legal issues and frameworks in competent nursing In my academic course of nursing I have faced with many ethical dilemmas and am looking forward to many such ethical dilemmas. I believe that as a nurse I should be aware of my legal and the ethical duties as a nurse. One of the legal aspects is the responsibility and the accountability of the registered nurses. A nurse is committed to provide a safe care to the patient, within her scope of practice (Chadwick & Gallagher, 2016). Failing to maintain the accountability may lead to cancellation of the registration. The Nurse Practice Act for the state of Florida has bestowed the sense of ethics such as beneficence, veracity, fidelity and justice in me. |
Important aspects of nursing practice act The Florida nurse practice act provides the scope of practice for the nurses. It contains the updated definitions about the nursing practice, the codes of conducts, restrictions and the age limits. The set standards of the scope of practice help the nurses to maintain the responsibility and the accountability of the nurses. Professional accountability helps the nurses to be legally responsible for the actions and the outcomes (“Florida Nurse Practice Act & Scope of Nursing”, 2018). My main aim is to provide a good quality, evidenced based and cost effective care to the patients. |
Personal beliefs and values As a human being I believe in love, kindness, integrity and dignity. I have inculcated these values within me from my childhood and I know that these values would help me in my nursing career. It is all about love and compassion that a therapeutic relationship is established between a patient and a caregiver. I have always believed in prioritizing people for whom I care. This value within me is similar to ‘beneficence’ of the nursing ethics that encompasses a nurse to push his/her limits to provide a patient-centered care. |
