An intimate relationship exists between a systematic research review and clinical practice guidelines. In case of as systematic research review, extensive literature reviews are done for retrieving and critically analyzing the empirical evidences available in the context of the research area and satisfactorily provides answers to the projected research questions by fitting into the preset eligibility criteria. Contrarily, clinical practice guidelines refer to statements that encompass recommendations directed to optimize the patient care outcomes subjected to collection of information from systematic review of evidences alongside evaluation and analysis of risks and benefits pertaining to alternative care options (Brown, 2013).

Brief Summary: The association between nurse staffing and quality of care (QoC) in nursing homes was investigated in the study by virtue of carrying out systematic reviews of quantitative, longitudinal studies. Databases such as PubMed, CINAHL, EMBASE, and PsycINFO were explored for undertaking the systematic review. The findings revealed no consistent evidence that staffing and QoC is positively related. However, results suggested that higher staffing is related to both better as well as lower QoC indicators that in turn implied for a positive relationship that might have occurred due to intrinsic limitations of the study. Therefore, more longitudinal studies are recommended for procuring better insight into the possible relationship between nurse staffing and QoC in nursing homes (Backhaus et al., 2014).

The type of systematic research review concerning the article may be identified to be of integrative research review type.
