GMS6833 Health Outcomes Research In Vulnerable Populations
Question:
Answer:
In US, vulnerable population refers to the community who have complex medical problem and as well as social needs. Health care disparities is a major problem in US and it is associated with race and income.
The low- income population is one of the most vulnerable population in US they are facing health care disparities and it is increasing issue in US health care. The main reason behind this condition is associated with the poor socioeconomic issue of this population. To give them proper health care the nurses should take various steps and help them in getting proper care. Nursing personnel have become a major part of in caring of the vulnerable population (Vanderbilt et al., 2013). In addition to primary care providing, they are also giving quality care and that is almost same as the physician. The wonderful communication skills of the nurses helps the vulnerable population and those people are quite satisfied with the care of the nurses. Nurses should address the problem of vulnerable population providing care without being partial with them due to their socioeconomic status. In order the problem, different states of US has governed NP scope of nursing practice (SOP). The nurses should follow the different policies in order to serve the best. Nurses should promote various policies related to the vulnerable populations, Protect the rights, safety, confidentiality of that population. The should maintain a good clinical practice and also can develop safety monitoring plan in order to prevent them from health care disparities (Shivayogi, 2013). However, not only in US globally the low-income population faces discrimination in medical treatment care and as well as in terms of facing mortality due to lack of proper care.
Lastly, it can be concluded that, in order to abolish the discrimination in the health care for the vulnerable population the nurses can take an important stand and their active support can decrease the discrimination.
