According to the author, it is important to use reflective mode of practice in health care or in the field of nursing practice, as it will encourage individual to think critically about the multiple aspects of their work. It is true that reflective practice will help to understand the ideas and view point of others.
The author has addressed it wonderfully that how reflecting with peers will help to understand one’s strength and weakness. Implementation of reflective practice will reduce many cultural barriers in the organization, hence, decreases the pressure of the staffs. It is acceptable that, reflective practice helps to provide better leadership through maintain the team, accomplishing task and developing the team as well. There are some others benefits of using reflective practice, which is not mentioned in the paper. For example, reflective practice will help to understand individual needs in order to improve their capability. It could play an important role in encouragement of self-motivation and increasing self-confidence.
The paper did not refer that reflective mode of practice is one of the best ways to acquire new knowledge about one’s own working field. In this way, individual could improve their skills (Bulman and Schutz 2013). However, there are some negative aspects of reflective practice, which is not addressed in the paper. For example, the process is time consuming. Most of the people fail to understand the process. Some people face difficulties in evaluating their own work. Reflective practice is not adequate to resolve all issues regarding health care practice (Goulet, Larue and Alderson 2016). The effort of the author in approaching reflective practice is appreciable, but negative aspects were needed to address in the paper to contrast the impact of reflective practice.
