Answer:
I felt disappointed for getting poor score in the last section of my paper. After thinking about this, I began to carefully consider what mistake I did. So, I read my paper again. I found that I had given the reason for a nurse to work with a doctor and the role of both professions during interprofessional communication. However, the after checking the marking rubric for criteria to achieve excellent understanding, I realized that I needed to backup my discussion with variety of evidences. Black et al. (2015) supports the fact that accessing research literature is eseential for evidence based practice. By using similar approach, I could identify my shortcomings in discussing about the skills required to communicate effectively tools. I gave good summary regarding skills required to communicate effectively, however lack of critical discussion regarding the reason for such skills gave me low score. If I had spent more time to find peer reviewing articles that explained about the need to have respect, empathy and trust in interprofessional collaboration, I would have enhanced the quality of my work.
While reflecting on my mistakes, I changed the way I had framed the inter-professional practice session. After analyzing the communication skills that I had discussed in Part A, I realised that these were not the most appropriate skills to work with inter-professional team. This can be said because I mentioned only about values like respect and empathy in inter-professional team work. I research further to find specific communication skill that is needed by nurse to work with other profession. As a result, I found that several research articles that gave idea about values and skills needed as well as the rational for those skills. For example, Babiker et al. (2014) explained that team building values and principles can help to collaborate with other professionals and deliver quality patient care. I spent more time on research and found relevant research article to improve my work. In future, my strategy while preparing assignment is to start early and spend extra time on research so that I can discuss my point with support from various research evidences. This would help me to get excellent marks from the tutor. The main rational for discussing a point from variety of research literature is that it validates research finding and favours utilization of a paper for evidence based practice (Hamer & Collinson, 2014).
