1803NRS Foundations Of Professional Nursing Practice

Professional Nursing Standards – using the Registered Nurses Standards for Practice (2016), describe how you intend to demonstrate the development of one of the following standards in preparation for or when on clinical placement:

Engages in therapeutic and professional relationships
OR

Provides safe, appropriate and responsive quality nursing practice.

According to Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency [AHPRA] (2017), a registered nurse (RN) is an individual with required educational qualification and showcases an ongoing competence for nursing practice. AHPRA, in association with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (NMBA) mainly deals with the framing of the nursing standards. Whether working as RN in private or public sector healthcare organisation, RN are required to display signs for their professional development and their ability to practice safely in a professionally competent manner. This must be done in accordance with the professional code of conduct of NMBA (2016). This in turn will help to achieve patient health and well-being.

According to the 6^th code of conduct of the registered nurse standards, the nurse is required to provide safe, appropriate and responsive quality of nursing practice (NMBA 2016). In order to procure safe and appropriate and responsive quality of nursing practice, I will mainly abide by evidence based practice. According to DiCenso, Guyatt and Ciliska  (2014) eevidence based practice is an importance aspect of nursing care and this helps the nursing professionals to draft person-centred care plan. Person centred care plan helps to achieve faster health and wellbeing of the healthcare service users. However, while accessing, evidence-based practice data, I will keep few points under consideration and this include: the information which I am planning to refer is reflected in various other practices over large sample size. Implementation of the practice method or interventions over large sample size increases the success rate of the overall therapy plan. I will also make sure that the evidence is well-supported with proper statistical analysis (quantitative). Moreover, while selection of intervention through evidence based practice I will first prioritise the information which I need and then I will initiate by data search. Melnyk et al. (2014) are of the opinion that this helps to search in a specific direction leading to increased output, which are relevant.

I will also involve the my client in drafting the care plan via helping him or her take active participation in informed decision making. This concept is further supported by person centred care plan and Kitson et al. (2013) are of the opinion that person centred care plan with patient decision making, helps to improve the overall health outcome of the patients. In order to remain responsive for the care that is being procured from my end, I will always stay accountable for it. Moreover, I will also make use of the updated yet relevant information from the evidence based practice in order to draft the care plan. Furthermore, I will also promote multidisciplinary team approach in finalizing the care and this will increase the overall competency of the care process.

Lastly I want to say that evidence point towards good professional practice and thereby helping to provide safe and competent care to the healthcare service users. However, it is not always possible to find best-fitted evidence in order to support the decision. Via remaining honest about my information and evidence which I obtain is the best way to abide by the good professional standards and thereby helping to provide care in a safe and appropriate and in a responsive manner.
