Nurses are required to protect clients. The nurses can be their advocates if the clients require assistance. The nurses can advocate for clients by using their power and making suggestions. If a nurse works in an Intensive Care Unit and identifies that another member of staff is not following the hospital’s hand hygiene standards, the nurse should inform their superiors.
