Depression is one of the most researched emotional responses after stroke and shows that the emotional impact of aphasia can have a marked negative impact on recovery, response to rehabilitation, and psychosocial adjustment. There is an evident dearth of validated instruments to assess depression in people with aphasia including Hindi, the national language of the country.

Some of the widely accepted approaches related to translation comprise of protocols, guidelines, order sets, and decision support systems (White, Dudley-Brown & Terhaar, 2016). Clinical decision support system (CDSS) refers to computer based applications that have the role of supporting and assisting clinicians in enhancing their decision making via delivery of evidence-based knowledge, in regards to patient data. This kind of computer based system encompasses three parts namely, a knowledge system, a language system, and a problem processing system (Musen, Middleton & Greenes, 2014).

Automation can be defined as usage of information technology and control system to lessen the requirement for human work in the manufacture of goods.  Use of automation in the dementia screening among stroke patients can prove useful in replacing the manually intensive task of screening, which will be better accomplished by computerized machines, thus saving time (Baig & Gholamhosseini, 2013). Absence of any human errors will also make the automated order sets better suitable for enhancing care quality and maintaining consistency, while reducing waste of papers.

Usage of practice guidelines will help in gaining a sound understanding of the recommendations that are intended to optimize the care of stroke patients, subjected to dementia screening (Ngo & Holroyd-Leduc, 2014). Thus, the guidelines will elucidate the different treatment and diagnostic modalities, related to the screening process.

A protocol that comprises of statements that would guide the clinical decision-making process would prove beneficial. The protocol would elaborate on the different screening tests namely, verbal fluency, sweet 16, and mini-cognitive assessment that needs to be conducted for dementia screening. Thus, translation of evidence to practice will facilitates improvement in outcome among the patients, and communities.
