Introduction
Mental health defines the cognitive, emotional and behavioral development of mental wellbeing. As defined by the World Health Organization (WHO), mental health refers to the stability in the psychological order. This includes self-effectiveness, autonomous ability, self-dependence and recognition of mental ability. The study will focus on the efficiency of my mental health to develop my beliefs, emotions and develop my sustainable mental growth. The study will disclose my ability to identify my mental health and illness and how my knowledge and experiences help me to shape my beliefs (Engdahl, 2010). Moreover, the study will also discover the factors that affect the issues of my mental health. Hence, the study will disclose the factors that have influenced me to expand my knowledge regarding the illness of my mental health. The discussion will end by outlining the fruitfulness of knowledge to enhance my nursing practice. The conclusion will summarize the study and will focus on an overall recommendation.
Discussion
Reporting
Mental illness generally suggests an unstable state of mental health due to anxiety and depression. It can be called schizophrenia or bipolar disorder. I think mental health is an integral aspect of human life that conceptualizes the mental wellbeing. A stable mental health keeps me focused, and empowers me to continue my task will value and comfort. I think a healthy mental condition can support me in functioning well and connect to my social, emotional and cultural connection (Cernovsky, 2017). According to me, it is impossible to be mentally healthy without having nutritious food, sufficient exercisers, and sufficient naps. Any disorder of this system can results in excessive depression, anxiety and hypertension which are not good for healthy mental stability.
Responding
Mental health of an individual generally refers to the gathered knowledge of the contraction of mental wellbeing and mental illness. Beliefs and attitudes play a pivotal role in shaping the mental health of the individual. The attempt to understand the beliefs and attitudes enables to locate the practical practices of mental illness. My beliefs and attitudes help me to gather knowledge regarding the mental illness (Glass, 2010). The beliefs and knowledge are based on my present and previous education. Moreover, social media, internet browsing, books and several medical articles have helped me to evaluate my practical knowledge on mental health. The role of social media in my knowledge of mental health is exceptional. For example: recently I have seen on social media that an ex-cricketer was suffering from mental illness after his retirement from a successful cricket career (Provencher & Keyes, 2011). The entire situation has taught me that mental illness can come even after being a successful personality.
Relating
In this stage, it is very important to relate the symptoms of my observation to my personal experience. In my experience, I have learned that both the positive as well as the negative factors are responsible for a person’s mental wellbeing. While observing a patient it is very important to keep in mind the culture, gender, race, and ethnicity of the patient so that I can draw a particular patient-centric recovery plan, which would agree to both his health as well as make him feel culturally safe (Quigley, 2007). It is very important to have a strong base of fundamentals in the mental health field, but at the same time, it is also very important to keep an open mind and expand the knowledge on mental illness. The knowledge acquired during the practice is very helpful to draw a conclusion inferring the patient’s illness and the approach of the treatment required to cure the patient. During my studying, sometimes I could relate the symptoms of the patient to some of the friends and family members in my home country. This helped me understand their issues and properly create a proper care plan for them.
Reasoning
The symptom of the patient needs to be studied in depth so that the underlying problems behind the symptoms can be understood. People can respond to a situation oddly enough without understanding the real reason behind such a drastic response. It is the job of the doctor to understand that the underlying reason behind depression, anxiety or whatever disease has been diagnosed (Trang, 2018). In my opinion, it is important to show compassion towards the patient so that they can open up more to the doctor about their problems. Only then it is possible to gather knowledge about the symptoms of the patient and infer the conclusion on the reason behind them. Sometimes I would discuss the symptoms of the patient with my other colleagues so that I can get a glimpse of their perspectives as well.
Reconstructing
In this last stage, I have to apply the fundamental theories which can be used to treat the patient. I have to be generalized in my opinion so that my experience can be used in the future. While reconstructing the case I have to align all my notes in a systemic manner from my sessions with the patients, the notes which I have created during and after the session, the possible reasons behind the symptoms and the conclusions (Vladu, Novac, Preda & Bota, 2016). After studying all the notes thoroughly than I have to reach to a possible solution with which I can use to treat my patients. In my knowledge, I will incorporate a person-centered approach towards my patient. In my opinion, I will connect to the patient, listen to their problems, and try to make them understand the value of life and the past experiences while making them feel culturally safe by helping them face the stigmas and the taboos of their community (Zartaloudi & Madianos, 2010).
Conclusion
Mental health plays a crucial role in an individual’s life. Several factors affect the mental health. I think the family connection and physical fitness area two backbone of my mental health. Mental health generally varies from person to person. The study has helped me to gather my knowledge on the paramount importance of mental health. The healthy situation of mental health helps me to treat the individuals affected by this. Moreover, the positive outlooks of my mental health would help me to understand, listen and promote the healthy wellbeing of mental health.
