Question:
The Law and License Investigation
Have you encountered a situation similar to the scenario in the Self-Evaluation? If so, how did you handle it?
How does your State Nurse Practice Act address Nursing Peer Review situations?
Then respond to two or more of your colleagues’ responses by asking each colleague at least two probing questions. The probing questions may ask the person to clarify statements or provide more detail, or may ask the person to consider another viewpoint.
Answer:
Throughout my encounter, I have never experienced a situation like this before as discussed in the self-assessment assignment. However, I have been assigned seven patients in a room that was meant to accommodate only five patients. In case I had undergone such a scenario in my life, I would have resorted to asking those nurses who were on duty during the day of the assignment. Due to the fact that I am still a newly trained nurse, I would have preferred seeking advice from those nurses who were more experienced (Texas Board of Nursing). Although I would hesitate in taking any decisions, I would have made up my mind in case I was at risk of losing my nurse license. Nonetheless, there was a day I was required to take the role for certified nurses although I never took an assignment.
Primarily, the Nursing Practice Act is responsible for taking care of nursing peer review scenarios by establishing the peer-reviewed committee. Texas Nursing Practice Act of 2013, the main use of a peer review is for evaluation of nursing services as well as their qualifications while improving the overall quality of patient care that is rendered by nurses (Texas Board of Nursing, 2013). In this case, the NPRC is mandated to determine in case the external factors that are beyond that nurse’s control are responsible for impacting the nurse’s capability in delivering patient care.
Hi Amparo
For my case, I have encountered the situation explained in the assignment. However, I never asked a question regarding flexed patients. Is there any protocol that one has to use to make sure that such scenario is avoided?
Wan-Yi Leung
Although I have encountered such a process in my nursing career, I was concerned and even promise to report the case in case it jeopardizes my career. Is it necessary to oppose the flexing of patients at any time?
