NPU1101 Nursing Practice 1
Question:
What are the hindrances that this project may face in implementing it?
Answer:
Proper orientation is one of the major factors for the growth, development, retention and recruitment of the nursing staff in the healthcare operations especially in the surgical or operative departments (Stephens, Smith and Cherry 2017). Hence, this project was focused to provide orientation program to train the fresh nursing professionals. However, there are several issues which can create hindrance in achieving the target of this project.
Perioperative nursing practice is inclusive of cognitive, technical and behavioral components due to which, professionals require a specific time so that they can completely understand the process and place to provide the patients with quality treatment (Criscitelli 2014). However, there are several hinderance which could be faced while providing such time frame to the fresher nursing professionals. As majority of the healthcare facilities are equipped with 1 to 2 weeks of perioperative orientation program, providing such long orientation will be difficult for them as they will not able to provide such training to the nurses (Association of Perioperative Registered Nurses 2018). Secondly, absence of proper infrastructure for a long orientation will be difficult and will create hinderance for such orientation program project (Stephens, Smith and Cherry 2017). Thirdly, there are aspects such as regulations, laws and policies of the healthcare facility, which need to be changed for the growth and development for such orientation program. Hence, these policies need to be implemented so that the orientation program could last for 6 to 12 months and it could create a hinderance for the project of perioperative nursing (Criscitelli 2014).
These are the hindrance which could be faced by the researchers conducting this project so that the growth and development of the orientation program could be extended.
