HLSC122 Evidence For Practice
Question:
Answer:
Introduction
Cardiovascular disease includes blood vessels or the heart and sometimes both. There exist several types of cardiovascular diseases which include; heart failure, heart valve disease, congenital heart disease, abnormal heart rhythms etc. The symptoms of this disease include; pain in the chest and arms, shortness in breath etc. (Djoussé, Hopkins, North, Pankow, Arnett, & Ellison 2011).
The clinical question may be either background or foreground type. The clinical question described involves how the use of chocolate relates to heart disease risk. Chocolate is a brown/dark food prepared from Theobroma cacao seed and grounds. Chocolate is prepared in liquid, paste or block form. (Djoussé et al 2011).
Description of the clinical question
The clinical question can be described as foreground type of question. This is because it portrays the four components of the foreground question. These components are; a patient/problem, intervention, comparison and outcome components. The problem in this question can be said to be heart disease while the outcome is the way to reduce the risk of the disease (Masters et al 2016).
Analyzing the qualitative measures of the question, it has major and many benefits hence it’s a high-quality question. One benefit of this question is that it educates people on preventive measures on the heart disease risk. The clinical questions recommend the use of quality chocolate to the people. Another advantage is that the clinical question provides additional knowledge to the clinical officers (Compston 2011).
The Importance and rationale of the question
The clinical question has a wide range of the importance to individuals. The first importance is that it helps in minimizing the heart disease victims and reduction of treatment cost. Reasoning from the knowledge generated on how the use of chocolate curbs the disease, it is clear that when people use chocolate the chances of being affected by disease goes down. Another importance is that the clinical question effect to an improved lifespan of the people. Basing this importance on the effect of chocolate on the heart diseases risk it is open that curbing this killing disease will minimize the death resulted by heart disease (Semple et al 2010).
Conclusion
Many proves have been generated which satisfy that use of chocolate minimizes the heart disease risk. Some of these proofs include; it reduces the insulin level, it leads to production of nitric acid which reduces pressure of blood etc.
